Welcome to the Site
Welcome to the SI06 Website
The Solomon Islands Project 2006 - SI06 - is up and running, and you've somehow landed yourself in it's website and information centre. SI06 is the continuation of the ACT Scouts excellent relations with the Solomon Islands. In 2004, a team of 44 travelled over to the Solomon Islands on what was called 'The Honiara Project' and rebuilt the Red Cross School for the Disabled in Honiara. It was an amazing, ground-breaking project which was followed up by the Solomon Islands Exchange in 2005. This time, a number of Solomon Islands scouts were brought out from the Solomon Islands by a hard-working team of young-people to enjoy the new-found wonders of escalators and Australian culture.
This project, we will be heading back to the Solomon Islands these October school holidays to continue our hands-on community service work that is so desperately needed.
Applications are now open and we are looking at taking an even larger team than last time. We will also be making the most of the opportunities to travel and meet some amazing new people, as well as experiencing a totally different culture. You're very welcome to have an explore and look around here, and this will be a major point of contact for the duration of the project so keep checking back on the noticeboard for updates! Also, feel free to contact the SI06 message bank service on 0415100315 and we will call right back !
Cheers, Hannah Lord - SI06 Team Leader
